Long Island Children’s Museum
Wide range of ‘hands-on’ exhibits and activities located in Garden City.

The Children’s Museum of the East End
The museum is host to both permanent and rotating Interactive exhibits. The permanent exhibits focus on what makes the East End a special place, with an emphasis on the people and living creatures that inhabit it. Themes include agriculture, fishing, world celebrations, and community.

Atlantis Marine World
A very nice aquarium located in Riverhead.

New York Hall of Science
Their mission is to convey the excitement and understanding of science and technology to children, families, teachers and others by galvanizing their curiosity and offering them creative, participatory ways to learn.

Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery and Aquarium
A non-profit educational center dedicated to educating our visitors about the freshwater ecosystems of New York. Offers unique public programs year-round and provides education programs for thousands of students from pre-K through college. They have the largest living collection of New York State freshwater reptiles, fish and amphibians.

Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum
The Whaling Museum collection provides the community and its constituents with a significant link to the understanding of one of Long Island’s earliest major industries.

The Long Island Museum
The Long Island Museum is dedicated to inspiring people of all ages with an understanding and enjoyment of American art, history and carriages as expressed through the heritage of Long Island and its diverse communities.

The Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum
The Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum has a marine and natural history museum in addition to a planetarium. Tours of the mansion are also available. Located in Centerport.


Long Island Game Farm
A children’s zoo and wildlife park located in Manorville. Offers families a natural environment where they can learn about wildlife and animals through education and entertainment. The park has many interactive areas where guests can touch and, unlike most zoos, actually feed the animals.

Quogue Wildlife Refuge
The Quogue Wildlife Refuge offers a variety of nature related programs for all ages. It is a 305-acre expanse of protected land, with over seven miles of trails where you can explore a variety of habitats including Pine Barrens, bogs, wetlands, a field, and a tidal estuary.

White Post Farms
White Post Farms hosts a petting zoo where children can feed many of the animals. Pony rides available as well as a playground. Located in Melville.

Gateway Playhouse
Gateway Playhouse is located on the eastern edge of Bellport, Long Island on about seven acres of wooded, grassy land. The Gateway Playhouse is host to a variety of professional performances as well as an acting school.

Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts
The Patchogue Theatre presents a full season of programs for the entire family.

The Broadhollow Theatre Company
Located in East Islip and Elmont, the Broadhollow Theatre Company hosts performances for children of all ages.


Holtsville Ecology Center
The Holtsville Ecology Center offers a wide variety of activities. The Holtsville Park includes a triple pool complex; exercise-trail fitness course; nature preserve and ecology center, zoo, and playground. Also offers garden and craft classes for ages 3 to 5 years of age.

Cornell Cooperative Exchange/Suffolk County Farm
Unique learning opportunities for children including 4-H clubs, marine sciences classes with hands-on time with marine life, chick incubation, career exploration, skill building and environmental science classes. Old Westbury Gardens
