    Time flies It feels like yesterday that we first opened our doors to the community. To date, we feel we have delivered all we aimed to, but will continue to attempt to improve our level of service. Our transition to the world of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) is nearly complete. We are implementing some of the final phases of the transition over the next few weeks.   • Patient’s Choice Award for 2009

    Peds First Pediatrics is pleased to announce that Dr. Halegoua was awarded the Patient’s Choice Award for 2009. This is the second year in a row that he has received this distinction. The award is based upon reviews of patients from a broad collection of sources. Physicians are rated based on their bedside manner, doctor-patient face time, degree of follow-up, courtesy of office staff, and overall patient opinions.   • New Prevnar Vaccine Approved

    A new version of the Prevnar vaccine was approved by the FDA. The Prevnar vaccine provides protection from a bacterial species named Streptococcus pneumonia. This species is responsible for invasive diseases including meningitis, and prior to the introduction of the original Prevnar vaccine, was a leading cause of death among infants. The new version of Prevnar provides protection against six additional subtypes of Streptococcus pneumonia.
